Robby Roberson is a Professor of cell biology and bioimaging at Arizona State University. He has had opportunities to see inside the fabrics and units of cells in ways most have not. February 9 – March 6, 2007

Jose Luis Arias. “Mundo Mágico”
Opening Reception: February 9th 7pm – 9pm, with live musica Latina by Ruth Lara Vichules & Co

Jose Luis Arias is currently living and painting in the colonial city of San Miguel de Allende, Guanajuato, in the central highlands of Mexico. Jose’s paintings reflect a colorful and energetic mix of abstract forms and Surrealism. His exhibition, "Mundo Mágico", (Magic World), reflects the Renaissance concept of painting as sculpture but Jose has added a dreamlike dynamism of color and movement mixed with symbolic images. A myriad of influences can be seen in his paintings, including Leger, Picasso, Arcimboldo, Dali and Dubuffet among others. The bold colors of San Miguel are ever present in his palette. Mario Mendia, art teacher at Desert Vista High School, met Jose in San Miguel and has brought Jose's paintings for the first time to the United States and Arizona to support both Jose's incredible talent and imagination as well as to lend financial support for his wife's leukemia treatment through the sale of his artwork.
